If you’re taking a visit to the Grand Canyon, one thing you have to make sure not to miss is the waterfalls in Havasupai Park. The reason that these waterfalls are so fascinating is that they are on tribal land, administered by the Havasu Tribe, which is located just outside the boundaries of the Grand Canyon national park area. The Grand Canyon is beautiful, but it has been visited by so many tourists (they enjoy havasu falls hike), that it is pretty common for litter to block your view and hinder your experience. Additionally, some common areas have been graffiti marked and eroded by human visitors.

The land that is owned by the Havasu Tribe is completely controlled by them, and since it is their homeland and the center of their traditional sacred rites and religious rituals, they make very sure to carefully control who enters their land. They have an intimate spiritual connection to the waters of the falls as well, and do their best to steward them and protect them from pollution and damage.

For this reason, when you visit the Havasu tribe’s waterfalls, you have to do your best to be respectful and courteous. You are being allowed onto land which is sacred to them, so you should abide by all of their requirements and directions to the very letter, and not try to do anything that they warn you against doing. Additionally, the waterfalls are sometimes unsafe due to unstable ground, so you will have to listen carefully to all directions about this kind of thing. The Havasu tribe also has the right to close the park at any time, and you have no choice but to abide by their directions, because it is their sacred land and they are in charge of governing it.

The concept is unique: Italian Cantina, Brazilian high end Boteco, tapas bar. At Bottagallo, cuisine is Italian, the portions are small as tapas and the atmosphere is “affluent Boteco Paulistano”. The Uovo Guido is a hit: breaded fried egg with truffle cream with toasts. The yolk breaks the dish. The scarpetta is awesome: a bowl with sugo sauce  (there are other versions with goat cheese or pepperoni). You will clean the dish with a brea, it’s so delicious.  The golden fried gnocchi with tomatoes and arugula is tasty. The price is fair and at lunch, executive menu entree + main + dessert for $ 48. It’s a gem in Itaim.

San JuaSan Juanino’s empanadas are famous and expensive, but the La Facade are unknown, cheap and delicious. The meat  one (Mendocina and Santiagueña) and cheese versions, such as Caprese, Plum and Bacon (great!) and Roquefort cheese and celery are nice. You can see they have original empanadas, beyond the classic Jamon and Queso and Cebolla y Queso.
